# Cloud vs On-Premises Architecture

The Cloud version of Virtual Contact is hosted and maintained by Virtual Contact on European Union servers. Updates, backups and security patches are applied automatically. No infrastructure management is required from the customer.

The On-Premises version runs on the customer's own servers. The customer is responsible for infrastructure provisioning, maintenance, updates, backups and security hardening. This version offers full data control and the ability to customise the infrastructure.
