# Configuring the AI Chatbot

To configure the AI chatbot: go to Settings > Chatbot > New Chatbot, assign a name, select the channels, write a natural language prompt describing how the bot should behave, set escalation rules and test in preview mode before activating.

The prompt is the most important element: describe the bot's purpose, the type of questions it should handle, the tone it should use and when it should transfer to a human agent. Update the prompt at any time without restarting the bot.
